VESSEL  CLASS  DESCRIPTIONS
 
Class A – All square-rigged vessels over 120 ft. (36.6m) length overall (LOA). Fore and aft rigged vessels of 160’ (48.8m) (LOA) and over.

Class A Division II – All square-rigged vessels with an LOA less than 120 ft. (36.6m).

Types of Square-rigged vessel are Ships, Barques, Barquentines, Brigs and Brigantines

Class B - Fore and aft rigged vessels of between 100' (30.5m) and 160' (48.8m) LOA.

Types of Fore and aft vessels are Topsail Schooners, Schooners, Ketches, Yawls, Cutters and Sloops.

Class C - All other fore and aft rigged vessels with a least waterline length of 30' (9.14m)

Note - Length Overall (LOA) is the length between the forward end of the stern post and the after end of the stern post. It does not include the bowsprit, pulpit or any other extenuation at the bow or stern.

Division of Classes

Class A - Vessels in Class A whose length overall is less than 120 ft. (36.6m) shall sail in Class A Division II.

Class B - Class B may be divided if the number of entries warrant it.

Class C Division I - All gff rigged vessels of less than 100' (30.5m) not racing with spinnakers and all vessel built before 1939 not already included in Classes A, AII and B.

Class C Division II - All Bermudian rigged vessels of less than 100 ft. (30.5m) LOA not racing with spinnakers.

Class C Division III - All vessels of less than 100 ft. (30.5m) LOA racing with spinnakers.
